It goes beyond building the capabilities of partner organisations and includes the capabilities of civil society actors to implement strong advocacy strategies. It is a process that involves the transfer and mutual exchange of specific skills, ideas, abilities, or resources to set the climate agenda and achieve development goals.

Joint influence of climate-relevant policies and climate finance is needed at all levels to ensure civil society actors have a seat at the decision-making table and their voices are heard. It can be pivotal in raising awareness about the importance of grassroots climate initiatives, emphasising their cost-effectiveness and direct impact. Amid the growing complexity of the climate crisis in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Koalisi KOPI (Youth Collective for Climate Action) was born as a space for young people to grow and take collective action to respond to the crisis from a local perspective. Established in 2021 through the Voices for Just Climate Action programme by Hutan Itu Indonesia (HII) and Terasmitra (TM), the coalition brings together youth communities and individuals from various regions. With a spirit of baku dukung (mutual support), Koalisi KOPI strengthens youth leadership, uplifts local wisdom-based solutions, and builds a climate movement through creative (artivism), inclusive, and sustainable approaches. This journey reflects how the voices, actions, and courage of young people can shape a more just, sustainable, and rights-based future.

For more than three years, Koalisi Pangan BAIK has been working through the Voices for Just Climate Action (VCA) programme in Manggarai, East Flores, and Lembata Regencies. Comprising members of KEHATI (The Indonesian Biodiversity) Foundation, KRKP (People's Coalition for Food Sovereignty), Ayo Indonesia Foundation, Ayu Tani Mandiri Foundation and YASPENSEL (Larantuka Socio-Economic Development Foundation), it strengthened and encouraged youths, women, farmers and rural communities to voice the impacts of climate change and local solutions, particularly in strengthening agroecological food systems. Working with local champions whose livelihoods depend on natural resources, they have implemented various initiatives to secure a more sustainable future.
