Akina Mama wa Afrika
Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMwA) is a feminist – Pan-African civil society organisation founded in 1985 by a group of African women living in the diaspora, who remained keenly aware of their African roots and the need to organise autonomously. We were named Akina Mama wa Afrika, which means solidarity among African women.

World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is the world’s leading conservation organisation. WWF is on a mission: to make the world Nature Positive. To turn nature loss into a net gain for nature, as quickly as possible. Because nature is essential to the survival of both people and wildlife. But no one can change the world alone. That’s why we work together with local partners, communities, businesses, and governments around the globe. WWF works in nearly 100 countries.

VCA advocates that change and climate action should be led from the bottom up, with strong local organisations representing their constituents’ experiences, voices and needs. Strong local leadership and ownership are key to effective and inclusive climate action.
Core to the VCA are the +200 local community-based and non-governmental civil society coalitions and organisations sub-granted through the programme. The VCA Project Profile publication highlights various innovative, locally-driven climate action initiatives implemented by our partners in the VCA implementing countries.
