Communities benefit from dam rehabilitation funded by NLGF
People's Process on Housing and Poverty
Over 3,000 residents in Chongwe District will benefit from the Dam Rehabilitation project, funded by the Next Level Grant Facility (NLGF).
The People’s Process on Housing and Poverty in Zambia (PPHPZ), with support from the Next Level Grant Facility under the Voices for Just Climate Action programme — funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs — undertook the rehabilitation of Bimbe Dam.
The extensive restoration, which began in January 2025 with an investment of over K190,000, has revitalised the dam, ensuring accessible water for more than ten nearby villages in Chongwe District, located in Zambia’s Capital City, Lusaka.
In this video report, community members reflect how the dam’s rehabilitation will benefit them and provide sufficient water for their livestock.
