The event, which was supported by Grupo SUNU, WWF-Paraguay, Fundación Avina and Emancipa Paraguay, brought together more than 100 Indigenous and rural women from the Gran Chaco Americano. These women gathered for two days for intercultural and intergenerational dialogues, during which they shared experiences, knowledge and strategies on land access, drinkable water, livelihoods, female leadership and a life free of violence. Through ancestral ceremonies and collective dynamics, they wove together a joint statement that reflects the strength and diversity of the trinational collective.
The final statement of the meeting summarises the main priorities and proposals that emerged: Water as a human right, Land and territory as identity and future, Sustainable livelihoods, Youth and living memory, Collective leadership, and Life free of violence.
‘The current context demands urgent action. We are part of the solution, we are the engine of change, we move the territory,’ the participants reaffirmed.
