The Climate Action Tarot: a tool to imagine solutions to the environmental crisis
The Climate Action Tarot is an innovative tool that translates the technical language of climate change into a popular, accessible format, encouraging collective action within communities.

Unlike traditional tarots, this one does not seek to predict the future but to imagine it, inviting people to create solutions and projects to address climate challenges.
The game, composed of 80 illustrated cards, presents characters, problems, actions, and tools to help players design local responses to the climate crisis. It is designed to strengthen the knowledge of leaders, journalists, activists, and communities by bringing environmental concepts closer to diverse audiences in a playful, participatory way.
The Tarot emerged from joint work with Voices for Just Climate Action (VAC) as part of the Popular Glossary for Climate Action in Bolivia. It was developed by Fundación Muy Waso, which aims to connect local experiences with global conversations on climate change. Its creation included interviews with 16 community representatives and 5 institutions, as well as a survey of 353 people nationwide.
Since its launch, the tool has been presented in international spaces such as the Global Media Forum in Bonn, Germany, and the Gabo Festival 2025 in Bogotá, Colombia, where it was featured by the Peruvian media outlet Servindi. In Bolivia, it was also showcased at the La Paz International Book Fair and distributed among VAC allies, women leaders, and environmental defenders from different regions.
Additionally, institutions such as the Chiquitano Forest Conservation Foundation (FCBC) and the UNDP National Coalition Against Disinformation have incorporated the Tarot into their training activities, establishing it as a resource that strengthens environmental education and promotes climate action through collective and local engagement.
