On 27 September 2025, the new community centre of UCINY (Union of Indigenous Communities of the Yshir Nation), located in Puerto Diana, the Paraguayan Pantanal, was opened to the public. The event was attended by community leaders, residents and civil society organisations, bringing together more than 110 people in a ceremony filled with emotion and collective commitment.

The building was designed by a female Yshir architect, using local materials significant to the Yshir indigenous peoples. The centre has a hexagonal shape and is adapted to its ecosystem, with natural ventilation and materials that maintain a comfortable temperature.

This new centre represents a space for community organisation, management and strengthening, reflecting the joint work and commitment of the Yshir communities to build a more solid and participatory future.

The initiative was undertaken by UCINY, with technical support from the organisation Pro Comunidades Indígenas (PCI) and WWF-Paraguay, within the framework of the VCA programme.
