DISSEMINATION AND ADVOCACY OF SOCIAL MAPPING AND PROFILING SETTLEMENT IN NORTH JAKARTA CITY GOVERNMENT

The Voices for Just Climate Action programme has been active in Kelurahan Penjaringan and Kelurahan Sukapura, North Jakarta City. The community is strengthened through various climate action activities, especially strengthening the role of women in climate action (Women Federation). Through social mapping and geotagging, the Women's Federation actively facilitates the community in identifying environmental and infrastructure issues and potential climate change disasters due to climate change that occur in their area.
Community action and strengthening need to be amplified and disseminated to 3 new areas in Kelurahan Penjaringan and 3 new areas in Kelurahan Sukapura. The Women Federation, as the main driver of the Voices for Just Climate Action programme in North Jakarta City, conducts social mapping and profiling within the RW scope with the community.
Social mapping and profiling of Kelurahan Penjaringan and Kelurahan Sukapura were carried out in a participatory manner with the Women Federation and community leaders. The results of social mapping and profiling are then disseminated to map the potential for collaboration and cooperation in access to water, sanitation, hygiene, and the impact of climate change. They also encourage the commitment and involvement of various parties and advocate the results of the profiling carried out by the community, Women Federation Sukapura, and Penjaringan.
On 11 September 2024, the Women Federation Penjaringan and Sukapura conducted a Dissemination of Social Mapping and Profiling Results at the North Jakarta City level. Previously, the Women Federation disseminated the social mapping at the Kelurahan level in Penjaringan and Sukapura in August and September 2024. The city-level dissemination held at the North Jakarta Mayor’s Office was attended by various government and private agencies across sectors such as the Environmental Sub-agency, Health Sub-agency, Parks Sub-agency, KPKP Sub-agency, Water Resources Sub-agency, and PAL Jaya.
The Women Federation, together with various development actors at the city level, conducted a participatory mapping of potential stakeholders and climate change partners. This mapping was conducted to identify collaboration in handling climate issues, including flooding, sanitation, clean water, slum settlement, clean and healthy behaviour, disaster strengthening, and institutional strengthening.
Through the dissemination of social mapping results and city-level profiling, the VCA programme encourages the participation of marginalised urban communities to jointly present data to make decisions together with the local government. The development actors have a commitment and direct involvement with marginalised communities to prepare community action plans to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change.
