Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMwA) is a feminist – Pan-African civil society organization founded in 1985 by a group of African woman living in the diaspora, who remained keenly aware of their African roots and the need to organize autonomously. we were named Akina Mama wa Afrika which means solidarity amount African women.

Hivos was founded in 1968, inspired by humanist values. Our founders held the conviction that development work should be secular, as true cooperation presumes respect for different beliefs. In our first ever brochure , our founders wrote that “necessary changes should sprint from communities themselves – from people at the base of society” These convictions are still reflected in our work.

SDI is a network of communication based organisations of the urban poor in 32 countries and hundreds of cities and towns across Africa, Asia and Latin America. In each country where SDI has a presence, affiliate organisations come together at the community, city and national level to form federations of the urban poor.

SouthSouthNorth (SSN) supports national and regional responses to climate change through policy and knowledge interventions, partnerships and deep collaboration. We do this by connecting people and information, enhancing capability and mobilising resources to respond innovatively to the challenges and opportunities that climate change presents.
