Online event: CBD COP16: Strengthening civil society engagement across the climate and biodiversity conventions

Join us for this webinar exploring CBD COP16 and opportunities to amplify local voices and solutions. Date: Thursday, 5 September 2024. Time: 15:00-16:15 CET.

As the world prepares for the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in October 2024, the importance of civil society engagement in global environmental governance has never been more critical. This includes engagement across all three of the Rio conventions (UNFCCC, CBD and UNCCD). This webinar will explore the intersection of civil society involvement across the climate and biodiversity conventions, focusing on how stakeholders can enhance their contributions to both the CBD COP16 and the broader environmental agenda. Our speakers who are leading experts, activists, and policymakers will share strategies, best practices, and case studies on amplifying civil society voices.

The webinar will address key topics such as:

  • What to expect from CBD COP16 and the big topics for discussion
  • The role of civil society in shaping policy outcomes at COP16 and beyond.
  • Building synergies between climate and biodiversity actions through civil society initiatives.
  • Enhancing collaboration between NGOs, indigenous groups, and other stakeholders in the CBD and UNFCCC processes.

Whether you are a seasoned environmental advocate or new to the field, this webinar will provide valuable insights and identify opportunities to help you make a meaningful impact in the lead-up to COP16 and beyond.

This webinar will be held in English with interpretation in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.
